DAY 1 NAPLES - CAPRI
CAPRI
Your Italian Riviera yacht charter leaves Naples for Capri, the pearl of the Bay of Naples. Either takes the funicular railway up to Capri town or one of the open topped taxis and enjoy the best in retail therapy. Have lunch at La Fontelina in Marina Piccola or Add’o Riccio or dinner in some of the famous restaurants like the Lemon Tree, set in the open air in the midst of a lemon orchard or Aurora, in the historical centre of Capri and which the same family has run for three generations.
DAY 2 CAPRI - AMALFI
AMALFI
Cruise along the Amalfi coast to the town of Amalfi, rich with maritime history. In the piazza near the harbour there is a statue to Flavio Gioja who popularised the use of the newly introduced compass in early C14th. In the Afternoon: visit the historic village of Ravello and the splendid gardens of Villa Rufolo and Villa Cimbrione, site of important classical music and the inspiration of many of Wagner’s works.
DAY 3 AMALFI - POSITANO
POSITANO
Next day head for Positano, one of the most picturesque towns on the Amalfi coast, where the houses that pepper the hillsides are built in Moorish style. Visit Positano and explore the streets to find that perfect gift. If you haven’t visited Pompeii yet then this would be a good opportunity for those interested in the ancient history of the area. Dinner at the famous San Pietro Restaurant?
DAY 4 POSITANO - ISCHIA
ISCHIA
Take an early morning cruise to the beautiful Island of Ischia past the Galli Islands mythologized as the home of the sirens in Homer’s Odyssey. Ischia, seethes with hot springs, so why not spend the next day relaxing at one of the islands many thermal spas or explore the islands lush semi-tropical mountains with their numerous hot water springs? Perhaps lunch at Il Damiano or dinner at Melograno?
DAY 5 ISCHIA - PONTINE ISLANDS
PONTINE ISLANDS
On the fifth day of your luxury yacht charter in Italy, choose between several lovely islands to visit - maybe visit wonderful Ponza or choose to circumnavigate Ventotene Island before stopping for lunch and watersports? If time allows, make an afternoon cruise to the small island of Procida which lies close to Ischia. Procida town has an almost oriental feel with its flat roofed cubic houses, the narrow streets have a medieval aspect and the countryside is cultivated with orchards and vines.
DAY 6 PONTINE ISLANDS - ELBA
ELBA
Overnight cruise to Elba, which is a green and mountainous island hardly touched by time. Elba has many coves and attractive harbours to explore. If staying in the port of Portoferraio, you could visit the villa where Napoleon spent his exile - Villa dei Mulini. While on the island, it is worth trying the local wines - Elba Bianco and Elba Rosso which are excellent.
DAY 7 ELBA - PORTOFINO
PORTOFINO
Make an early morning trip to Portofino and arrive in time for lunch in this very aristocratic resort, and soak up all its beauty and sophistication. Have lunch overlooking the harbour and the sea in the superb hotel Splendido.
